Andrew T. Still

Born in Virginia, Andrew Taylor Still moved west with his family to Missouri before settling in Shawnee Mission, Kansas Territory. In September 1861, Still enlisted in the Cass County Home Guards which was attached to Company F, 9th Kansas Cavalry. After serving in the James H. Lane’s Brigade, Still’s com-pany disbanded on April 1, 1862. On October 1, 1864, Still mustered into the 21st Kansas State Militia as a major and was relieved from duty on October 26, 1864. After the war Still moved to Kirksville, Missouri, where he founded the American School of Osteopathy.
