Bloody Hill Historical Markers

Coming Summer 2022

In the summer of 2022, the Monnett Battle of Westport Fund will be installing four interpretive panels about 400 yards east of Bloody Hill on the Big Blue Battlefield in Kansas City, Missouri. One panel describes the Federal attack against the Confederate defense line atop Bloody Hill, a scene from the second day of fighting on October 23, 1864. Two other panels describe the events of October 22 and 23 taking place on the Big Blue Battlefield in 1864. The fourth panel describes the efforts by the Monnett Battle of Westport Fund to preserve the battlefield. To learn more about these events, click on the image links below. The audio on these web pages were narrated by James C. Edwards, and written and produced by theCivilWarMuse.
